I’ve been so charmed by DiCamillo’s other books so I was looking forward to reading this. I don’t think it lived up to the charm and sweetness of the other books. It has a lot of the same ideas as her other books (sad kids, the power of love can heal) but I didn’t feel it. The book is super short (121 pages) so everything moves way too quick. To me it feels like they’re just showing you these characters and then telling you to feel for them rather than making you feel for them. The bottom line? It’s a fine book. Definitely not my favorite by her though.
